2026's Best Music Marketing Campaigns: Part 3
From flower shop pop-ups to TikTok call-ins, the two-month campaign behind "The Romantic" pulled in 3 billion impressions.
The Rollout
Bruno Mars announced "The Romantic" on January 5 with a post on X that read "my album is done." Two days later, he revealed the title and cover art.
- Jan 9: Lead single "I Just Might" drops and becomes his first-ever No. 1 debut.
- Jan 30: Mars named 2026 Record Store Day ambassador.
- Feb 1: Performs "I Just Might" at the Grammys.
- Feb 14: Partners with local flower shops across the U.S. to gift fans Valentine's Day bouquets.

Release Week
The campaign built toward a single stretch at the end of February, and it leaned on one motif: roses.
- Feb 25: Listening parties run at more than 200 independent record stores across the U.S., plus events in Australia, Asia, Europe and Latin America.
- Feb 26: A live "Romantic Radio" stream airs on TikTok and iHeartRadio, broadcast on 145+ stations and promoted across 270+ more. Surprise calls come in from Victoria Monét, Anderson .Paak and Rosé. The stream pulls 36 million likes in its first hour.
- Feb 27: Mobile flower trucks distribute roses in cities around the world on album release day. "Love lock" walls go up alongside them.
- From February 27 to March 1, a pop-up called The Romantic Flower Shop runs in Los Angeles. Fans line up for free flowers, photo souvenirs, exclusive merch and physical copies of the album.

The Encore
On April 18, Record Store Day, Mars released an exclusive compilation, "The Collaborations," available only at independent record stores.
The Results
"The Romantic" pulled more than 3 billion impressions across broadcast, radio, social and digital. iHeart and TikTok called it "a new blueprint for artist launches."
The chart numbers backed it up:
- Every song on the album charted on both the US and Global Top 100 streaming charts
- "Risk It All" hit No. 1 streaming in the US for the week
- "I Just Might" spent three non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100
- The album opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, Mars' first time hitting No. 1 there
